I taught individual and group classes to beginning and intermediate students from an under-served population.

In the past ten years or so I have witnessed the growth of a painter, student and friend.  As a painter she exhibits an understanding of the relationship between light and color and pigment and harmony. Marrying that knowledge to her ability to render form and perspective allows her to create strong compositions in both her still life and
landscape paintings. Kathleen McVey is that painter, former student and friend.
R. J. Wharton, Winter 2005

I have known Kathleen McVey as an artist for more than three years, first as a student where she has shown exceptional talent and an earnest desire to constantly excel in her work. As a founding member of the Sargent Art Group, she provides an energy that continually helps us to accomplish our goals. I cannot praise her enough.
